Current Daily Skincare Routine + REVIEW : Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara + FOTD + Chanel Nail Colour 517 Mistral

I have been requested to share my skincare routine, so here we go!

My daily skin cleansing routine has not changed, because I'm a die-hard fan of the Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying products, which I have been using for about five years now I think. I have tried some other cleansers in between, but always regretfully returned to Kanebo.

I've talked about my cleansing routine with Cleansing Milk and Creamy Soap some time before, but I thought, I'll do a quick review again.

1. Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Milk (first step of the cleansing routine at night only)

This has a lightweight milky texture that spreads easily. I love it especially because it doesn't feel greasy or oily. Makeup comes off really well though. But if you wear heavy makeup, you will do better with the Cleansing Oil. The scent is very faint and comfortable. Also love the convenient and hygienic pump bottle.

2. Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Creamy Soap

The consistency is thick and creamy, which lathers up really nicely with water, turning into a rich and creamy foam-like texture. It takes off all traces of makeup and dirt, leaving the skin super clean, soft, radiant and calmed after rinsing it off with water. It is very efficient, thus I just need a tiny amount of product for the whole face.

It doesn't leave any residue behind, yet you won't have a taut feeling at all. I feel, it has a brightening and pore tightening effect, although this is not explicitly claimed. Creamy Soap is such a incomparable foam cleanser to any other that I have tried so far.

I highly recommend this cleanser! If you have drier skin, I recommend you to go for the Milky Soap, which is amazing too!

3. Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Lotion II

After cleansing, I'm used to follow with a toner in order to prepare my skin for the skincare products. I feel that serums and moisturizer absorb much better into the skin, so this has always been an essential step for me. This Lotion works best when applied directly onto skin with your palms.

Actually, Kanebo Sensai's cleansing and skincare philosophy is based on the 'two-step-method'. Meaning that you always need two steps in both cleansing and skincare, in order to achieve best results, and I'm certain about that.

4. Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Hydrachange Essence

A serum that provides deep hydration with hyaluron as the main ingredient. This has a lightweight milky gel-like consistency that feels very moist on the skin and absorbs quickly, leaving no sticky residue behind. Comes in a hygienic and convenient pump bottle, that looks very pretty too.

I use this exceptionally at night. My skin feels and looks super supple and well hydrated every morning with this. Hydrachange Essence is a really good hydrating serum for dehydrated and tired looking skin.

5. Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Hydrachange Cream
This has a creamy gel-like consistency that spreads super easily and melts into the skin in no time. It makes the skin feel perfectly moisturized, soothed and smooth. The slightly sweet scent is very faint and calming.

I like this cream a lot, since it has the perfect texture - lightweight, yet rich enough for my dehydrated skin. It actually makes my skin feel/look silky smooth.

Next, I'm going to review the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara.

Comes in a sleek and elegant silvery blue tube.

It has a wedge-shaped brush wand that is quite comfortable to use, even though I have smaller Asian eyes with shorter lashes.

My bare curled lashes.

One coat of Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara. It is very volumizing and has quite lengthening abilities too.

The second coat intensifies the volume and blackness a lot more. I think the formula is really good, but it has to be applied really carefully, since it tends to clump and stick lashes together easily (as you can see in the photo, haha...). It is very smudge-proof and doesn't weigh down the curl of the lashes.

Verdict
On the whole, Sumptuous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara does an excellent job at volumizing and lengthening, but doesn't curl/lift my straight Asian lashes as much as my holy grail mascara - the Shiseido Lasting Lift Mascara.

If you are looking for a very volumizing and lengthening mascara that doesn't weigh down your lashes, this is it! But if defined and separated lashes with maximum curl/lift is your main aim this is the wrong one to pick.

A quick look I did using the Coffret D'or TD Eyes ~ 04 Grey Tones.

I'm wearing the Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15 ~ 1 Warm Ivory, which I got two days ago. I've mentioned over and over again, that I'm a 'powder-foundation-person', but nevertheless, wanted to give it a try.

Warm Ivory is a very fair yellow toned shade that is perfect to even out my redness. The finish is not really matte, but rather velvety matte with a subtle glow. It has medium coverage, and does an okay job on pore coverage. Goes on smoothly, but doesn't spread super easily. Staying power is average though. My t-zone got oily after few hours, although I set it with powder.

All in all, I like the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 (my hg liquid foundation) much more, for it makes my skin look even more flawless and glowy.

Hm, I think I still prefer powder foundations, haha...

The Coffret D'or TD Eyes ~ 04 Grey Tones is a cool toned purple palette, with neutral shades that makes this palette a great go-to palette for everyday. The purple in this palette is not exactly what I was looking for, but still pretty and it doesn't make your eyes look bruised, since it has a greyish undertone to it.

So, my search for the perfect purple/lilac eyeshadow goes on, hehe...

Jess' signature smile face (+squinting), haha... Oh, just in case you wonder why the photos turned out so bluish, it's because there was no bright sunlight that day! ;)

Nail-of-the-day! Wearing the Chanel Nail Colour ~ 517 Mistral from the Summer 2010 Collection. Please ignore the gross cuticles! :/

One coat and clear top coat. One coat gives a semi-opaque finish, two coats achieve full opaqueness. Goes on very smoothly without streaking. 517 Mistral is a really cute barbie pink color with very fine silvery glitter to it. A perfect nail polish for summer!

FOTD : Coffret D'Or Color Mixing Eyes 02 Green-Blue Mix

Color for my eyes today! Using the Coffret D'or Color Mixing Eyes ~ 02 Blue-Green Mix I got from Mihokoshop last week. This palette is so pretty for summer!

STEP 1
- white shade allover the lids as a base color (blend it up to the brow bones to add a highlighting effect!)

STEP 2

- green shade allover the lids following the shape of the eyes, starting from the inner corner and blend it outwards

STEP 3

- apply the aqua blue shad on the outer part of the eyes and blend it into the green

STEP 4
- deep purple blue along the upper and lower lashline
- concentrate on the outer corners to add depth to the eyes and blend blend blend...

STEP 5
- tightline the upper lashline and line the upper lid
- curl the lashes and apply mascara

This is actually a foolproof way of eyeshadow application for monolid eyes! Best thing, it's really easy to do!

The finished look! I felt a bit like a budgie, haha...

I know, I really shouldn't nag that much about myself, but I really hate my deep marionette lines! Gotta massage massage massage...

I think, my skin looks more glowy today, don't you think so? I did a facial massage yesterday night, which seems to have made my skin quite plump and well moisturized.

Again, the colors looked ways more vibrant than it appears in the photos. Gotta replace my stupid camera, and get my hands on a DSLR! That also means, I gotta cut down my spendings on cosmetics, and save up for that instead! Ohh ohh... :p

I'm again wearing the Shiseido Sheer Matifying Compact foundation. Applied it with a dry sponge today. I feel, the finish is more matte when applied with a damp sponge, whereas slightly more radiant and glowy when applied with a dry sponge. Of course, I prefer the less matte finish!

You think, this is a wearable daytime look? I actually went out with this makeup, and felt like I was the only person with colorful eye makeup, haha...

Pink lips with Dior Addict High Shine ~ 352 Champagne Blush and Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect ~ 517 Clutch Pink on top. I must admit, I have been neglecting them...

Yay for smiling, nay for squinting, haha... :]

You probably can't see due to my heavy hooded lids that overlap my eyelashes (sigh...!), but the Estee Lauder Sumptous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara does an amazing job at both volumizing and lengthening!!! It holds the curl of my lashes really well too! Detailed review to come!

There are another two products that I have been hiding from you for quite a time now. The Payot Pate Grise and Spéciale 5, which are designed for treating imperfections.

These two products are really effective, but at the same time very gentle, unlike other products that are ways too harsh and thus easily irritating sensitive skin. I've tried the highly raved Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion and Drying Lotion some time ago, but both were ways too harsh for my skin, thus I ended up with a light rash.

I'll come up with more details about the Payot Pate Grise and Spéciale 5 soon, if you are interested! ;)

Haul : Est, Coffret D'or, Lunasol from Mihokoshop + Shiseido, Estee Lauder, Clarins + FOTD : Nude Neutral Look with Est Emotion Aura Eyes 03

First of all, showing you the goodies I got from Mihokoshop this week!

Est Emotional Aura Eyes ~ 03

Yay, my first Est palette! I'm really thrilled about it! The case is amazingly beautiful and feels very sturdy! Love the square design a lot!

I decided to get 03, because I wanted a neutral one, just to be on the safe side. This palette reminds me of the Dior 5-Colour Eye Shadow ~ 609 Earth Reflection, which again has been scrounged by my sister, haha... But the shades of Est Emotional Aura Eyes ~ 03 is more flattering for Asian skintones!

I must admit that I thought the shades looked a bit sheer and boring when I opened it, but I was totally wrong!

As to the texture of the shadows, its honestly the best I've ever come across so far!

It's just too amazing to explain it in words, haha... Best described as buttery soft and super silky to the touch - except of the darkest shade, which feels a bit chalky, yet still applies smoothly. The color payoff is excellent too. All in all, it blew my mind! I have to get more Est palettes, hehe...!

Especially looking forward to the fall collection 2010! If Est wasn't just so expensive! But the quality is definitely there, and all palettes are so well-designed!

COFFRET D'OR Color Mixing Eyes ~ 02 Blue-Green Mix

Typical priness-y Coffret D'or case.

Yay, finally a palette with green and blue together! The bright shades are so pretty for a fresh summer look!

All shades are very smooth to the touch and have nice pretty shimmer, which I like a lot!

COFFRET D'OR TD Eyes ~ 04 Grey Tones

Pretty much the same case like the CM Eyes.

I have been looking high and low for a palette with a soft and cool toned purple in it, and this is it!

The purple is neutral enough to make it a great everyday palette!

LUNASOL Nail Finish ~ 43 Pearlish Rose

This nail polish indeed has a pearlish finish, yet I can't see any rose. It's rather a peachy color, which is very flattering on fair Asian skintones! Makes my hands look so bright, hehe... Will do a nail swatch of this soon!

.
.
.

Onto the products I got from the mall in exchange for the Sisley Phyto Teint Éclat Compact Foundation and Helena Rubinstein Long Lash Mascara!

If you have read my previous post, you might still remember I said that I'm going to return those two products. The Sisely Phyto Teint Éclat Compact Foundation provides a very smooth and even finish, which I liked a lot, but sadly it was too drying. It caused some dry flaky patches. I think it's an excellent powder foundation for combination to oilier skin types, but definitely not for dry skin.

As to the Helena Rubinstein Long Lash Mascara, it went back, because it irritated my eyes, which got red and itchy. It's not the best mascara in terms of curling/lifting up my straight and firm Asian lashes either. So, I'm not too sad about having to return it, haha...

SHISEIDO Sheer Matifying Compact Long Lasting Oil-Free Foundation SPF 10 ~ I00 Very Light Ivory

Comes in a sleek and elegant compact.

I00 Very Light Ivory is the lightest shade available of this product. Good match for my skintone. Not yellow toned enough for my liking, but luckily not pink toned either! The powder itself feels very smooth and not dry at all, although it is oil-free.

I actually used to love powder foundations that can be applied with a moistened sponge! Yay for it's non-comedogenic! :)

SHISEIDO Luminizing Satin Face Color ~ RD 103 Petal

Same sleek and elegant compact as the foundation.

This blush looks much darker in the pan, and also not very attracting, huh? But it's actually a really pretty peachy pink color when applied onto the cheeks!

It's quite pigmented, but the texture is smooth enough to be blended effortlessly.

SHISEIDO Perfect Rouge ~ BE 208 Baby

This lipstick has been on my wishlist for quite a while now! BE 103 Baby is a nude beige color with hints of pink and peach to it.

The texture is very creamy and moisturizing! Pigmentation is medium in one layer and full with a second. Great for pigmented lips!

For some weird reason my lipstick swatches on the back of my hand always show up that red. It actually does not look like this at all on the lips!

The proof! ;)

ESTEE LAUDER Sumptuous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara

I heard lots of raves about this mascara, so how could I resist to give it a try myself!

The brush wand is rather big, yet very comfortable to use even though I have such small Asian eyes with shorter lashes. I've tried it already, and it is awesome when it comes to volumizing! It does a good job at lengthening and holding the curl too! Furthermore, it's 100% smudge-proof (which I couldn't say from the Helena Rubinstein Long Lash Mascara!)!!

CLARINS Instant Eye make-Up Remover

This has been my favorite eye makeup remover for a couple of years, and now going back to use it, hehe...

In fact, it keeps what it claims 100%.

CLARINS Huile Lotus Face Treatment Oil

Got this to use as a face massage oil. I got a sample of this and it works really good. My skin looked so relaxed and clear the next day! I intend to do a face massage once to twice a week now. Hope, I don't get lazy, haha...

I don't leave it over night as it is supposed to. I rinse it off with warm water after massaging, and follow with a toner and moisturizer to complete my skincare routine.

.
.
.

My nude neutral look I did using the Est Emotional Aura Eyes 03, and all the new Shiseido stuff! Cam-whoring time! (^- ^)

The shades of Est Emotional Aura Eyes ~ 03 go together so well! Remember I said, that I was a bit disappointed when I opened it, since the shadows looked kinda boring in the pan? But the outcome of the look is not boring at all, eh?! ;)

Applied it exactly the way it's pictured in the Est booklet.

My personal favorite neutral eye makeup so far! And I think, my eyes looked even better in real life than in the photos, hehe... using the Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Bold Volume Lifting Mascara here. Not bad, huh?

I'm bad at describing, but it's like a 'invisible depth' it creates to my eyes. Sorry, if I don't make sense at all, haha...

The eyeshadows are very long lasting! Stayed without creasing or fading until late night!

Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color ~ RD 103 Petal on my cheeks. I told you that this blush looks so much prettier when applied, didn't I? Shiseido Perfect Rouge ~ BE 208 Baby is the perfect lipstick to match! ;)

Gotta apply some hydrating face masks! My skin is especially dry/dehydrated recently! Argh!

I like the Shiseido Sheer Matifying Compact a lot! Applied it with a moistened sponge, which provides me a smooth and even finish. Coverage is medium, but build-able, and the powder doesn't sink into the pores. But I noticed, it does slightly accentuate the dryness of my skin, so be sure to wear a good mosisturizer beforehand, if your skin is a bit on the drier side!

Lastly, my favorite picture! I hope, I didn't make you sick with all the pictures, haha... But I hope, you liked my nude neutral look! ;)
