R E V I E W : My Skincare Routine with La Mer

If you followed my blog for a while now, you must know that I'm very devoted to proper skincare, since I think it's essential for getting and maintaining beautiful and healthy skin. So today, I'm going to show you what products I use for my daily skincare routine. By the way, I actually receive quite a lot of mails about my skincare routine, so I suppose you are interested, not? Haha, here we go!

My daily face cleansing routine hasn't changed yet. I'm still using Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Milk and Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Creamy Soap. Read more about my daily face cleansing routine in this post here!

I've been using La Mer skincare products for about 3 months now, thus I feel it's finally time to share my thoughts!

My daily skincare routine consists of:
- La Mer The Tonic
- La Mer The Hydrating Infusion
- La Mer The Moisturizing Lotion

La Mer The Tonic
I always use a toner after cleansing, since I feel the following products better absorbs into my skin.

La Mer The Tonic comes in a simple 200 ml plastic bottle. It has a fresh and lightweight scent to it. I don't feel that this toner is super hydrating, nor have I noticed any other outstanding benefits. I mean, it's not bad, since it doesn't sting my sensitive skin, but that's what I expect from a toner that doesn't contain alcohol anyways. Overall, I must say this is just an average toner.

LA MER'S PRODUCT INFORMATION

Benefits:
A soothing tonic that revitalizes and enlivens the skin after cleansing.

The Tonic is the vital transition between cleansing and treatment. Infused with Colloidal Mineral Water, the topical benefits of this soothing tonic are readily apparent. La Mer's exclusive Deconstructed Waters™ within The Tonic revitalize and enliven the skin with no signs of dehydration. Anti-irritants delivered through these negatively charged waters soothe and tone the skin, preparing it to readily receive the maximum benefits of skincare to follow. The Tonic is suitable for all skins.

Application:
After cleansing, moisten a cotton pad and gently apply all over face and neck, dabbing in a gentle press and release motion. Repeat until cotton pad comes away clean.
.....

La Mer The Hydrating Infusion
This is kind of a serum, which is to be used twice a day before moisturizer.

It has a light scent to it, which I'm not able to describe. It's not disgusting or anything, but I don't particularly like it.

It comes in a 125 ml plastic pump bottle. It has a runny gel-like texture, which is absorbed really nicely into the skin leaving no sticky residue (unlike many other serums I have tried) behind, but leaving it very moist and supple. I feel it instantly locks the moisture, and prepares skin to absorb the following moisturizer even better. So, I really like it a lot!

And considering the amount you get (125 ml) this bottle doesn't count expensive for being a La Mer product! It will also last you quite a while, since one or two pumps of the product is totally sufficient for the whole face and neck!

LA MER'S PRODUCT INFORMATION

Benefits:
A high-potency treatment that saturates the skin with hydration, smoothness and conditioning on demand.

This high-potency treatment saturates the skin with a wave of hydration, smoothness and conditioning, preparing it to receive and boost the transformational benefits of Crème de la Mer.

The Hydrating Infusion’s vital ingredients – vitamins, minerals, tourmaline and Hydrating Ferments – are suspended within a serum-like gel network. This interactive sea gel works with exclusive Deconstructed Waters™ to deliver extraordinary activity on demand.

A cascade of hydration moistens the skin, preparing it to receive and boost the transformational benefits of Crème de la Mer. Dry complexions are replenished, feel soft, firm and smooth to the touch. Skin is strengthened, helping protect it against future moisture loss.

An elaborate bio-fermentation process helps sea parsley and other precious seaborne ingredients realize their fullest potential. Efficiently delivered, the Hydrating Ferments infuse the skin with untold energy and hydration, awakening a healthy, resilient appearance.

Used with Crème de la Mer, the visible signs of damage are significantly reduced. Lines and wrinkles begin to fade from view. A glowing appearance is revealed as skin’s look and feel take on a healthy new life.

Application:
After cleansing, sweep over face and neck with fingertips to prepare skin to receive treatment benefits to follow. Use twice a day for optimal skin conditioning and to boost the transformative effects of Crème de la Mer.

.....

La Mer The Moisturizing Lotion
This is the lighter version of the ever so infamous Creme De La Mer. I decided to get this since I thought the cream was too rich for my sensitive combination skin.

The Moisturizing Lotion comes in a simple and convenient 50 ml plastic pump bottle. It has the same fresh milky scent as the cream, which doesn't bother me, since it is not over the top. The Lotion has a creamy consistency which is easy to spread. My skin completely absorbs this, so that no residue is left behind. It leaves my skin feeling moisturized and calmed to a certain degree. Further, it hasn't caused break-outs.

Yet, I suspect it to moisturize the surface of my skin only, rather then moisturize it from within (if I make sense) because every time I cleansed my face, I have lots of dry flakes popping up from nowhere, which then immediately disappear once I have the lotion applied. Isn't that weird?

LA MER'S PRODUCT INFORMATION

Benefits:
A versatile, lightweight version of the legendary Crème de la Mer.

Crème de la Mer is also available in a lotion formulation containing the original Miracle Broth™ and its extraordinary benefits. Tailored to the needs of normal to dry skin, The Moisturizing Lotion is ideal for warm weather climates and occasions when Crème de la Mer may be too rich.

Application:
Crème de la Mer's Miracle Broth™ is suspended within its extraordinary formula. To activate the broth and release its key ingredients, warm a small amount between your fingertips. As you pat onto clean, dry skin, you will instantly feel the soothing effects of the broth. Smooth over your face, neck, even under the fragile eye area. Apply day and night for a lifetime.

.....

Verdict
Since I couldn't notice any significant improvement in my skin's texture and appearance, the enlarged pores on my nose haven't become finer, and the redness is still there, I have to say that all in all, I find La Mer products overrated, and most important overpriced.

Maybe my expectations for La Mer products simply were too high. I don't have to mention the well known hype about La Mer's miracle broth here, do I? ;) I'll finish the products, but not re-purchase, except for The Hydrating Infusion, which I'm quite fond of.

Now, I'm sad that La Mer on the whole was ineffective for me. Sigh! Honestly, I so wanted to love it!

I hope this was helpful!

Haul from Mihokoshop : Coffret D'or, Maquillage and Lunasol

I promised to show you the complete haul from Mihoko Shop. Mihoko Shop provides excellent customer service and delivery! So, if you have any concerns about products or whatsoever, don't hesitate to e-mail Mihoko, who generally replies quickly! Now, without any further ado, here we go!

COFFRET D'OR Jewelcious Eyes ~ 04 (Spring 2010 Collection)

The case is kept pretty clean. The pink stones that are enclosed on the lid adds a bit of a princessy touch to it. I find the packaging looks nice, yet it doesn't make me drool over.

The texture of this palette is a dream! The shadows feel super silky and apply absolutely smooth without any powder fall-outs. The shimmer in it is very very fine, giving your eyes (better to say, eyelids) a really nice glow. As you can see from the swatches below, the colors are quite pigmented too.

This is my first Coffret D'or palette ever, and I'm impressed! Like I said in my previous post, texture-wise I think it's better than all Lunasol palettes I have.

Jewelcious Eyes ~ 04 consists of four shades which are, a shimmery white, a peachy color with golden shimmer to it, a golden brown and a deep cool-toned brown.

MAQUILLAGE Face Creator 3D ~ 66

This is a great product! I really like to have a blush, contouring powder and highlighter all in one compact! The shades in ~ 66 are very soft and natural.

Since the colors are that light, I wasn't able to swatch. All you would see is the shimmer, which is a really fine one with a bit of a metallic sheen to it. I personally like a light metallic finish, since I feel it gives my cheeks a nice glow.

Face Creator 3D ~ 66 is perfect for very fair to fair skintones, as this will give the most natural flush. Yet, I don't recommend it to darker skintones, since the light shades won't show up.

LUNASOL Lighting For Eyes ~ 04 Neutral

You all know that I'm a big fan of Lunasol's eyeshadows, don't you? I've been lemming for Lighting For Eyes ~ 04 Neutral for the longest. It was always sold out everywhere, whenever I wanted to order it. So, I believe this must be one of the most popular Lunasol palettes, huh? ;)

For being neutral colors, not boring at all, what do you think? I think, the shades look beautiful. Hopefully, it looks that beautiful on my eyes too, haha...

MAQUILLAGE Moisture Rouge (Sheer Type) ~ RS 713

Kathi from Lotus Palace, intrigued me to get this, after seeing how beautiful it looked on her lips. I haven't used it yet, so I can't tell much about it now. But be sure, I'll use it very soon!

It looks like a natural rose color on the back of my hand. I'm excited to see, how it turns out on my pigmented lips though!

And that's all I got from Mihoko Shop this time!

By the way, my skin has broke out like crazy at once. I have huge pimples and scars on my chin and mouth area right now. Argh, that's always so annoying. I think, I better do a mild scrub followed by a cleansing mask tonight!

Now, I'd like to know how do you treat your occasional break outs! Looking forward to hearing your tips!

FOTD : Soft Peach Look with Coffret D'or Jewelcious Eyes 04 + Flower Ring from Shanghainese Dumpling

Hello, how was everyones' weekend? I hope, a good one!

Today, I did a Soft Peach look with my brand new Coffret D'or Jewelcious Eyes ~ 04 palette that I bought from Mihoko Shop. This palette is from the Coffret D'or Spring 2010 collection, which was released in December 2009 in Japan. It was Jenn's swatches at Beauty Moogle Zone that intrigued me, haha...

The postie delivered it this morning. Yes, I have bought some more items from Mihoko! I'll show you the whole haul in my next post! Of course, I couldn't wait doing my makeup with it at once, hehe...

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to take down the steps, since I was again in a hurry to leave the house. Since my eye makeup is very simple most of the time, I wonder, if you still like seeing my step-by-step picture tutorial. It would be great, if you let me know! ;)

I'm very impressed by the Coffret D'or Jewelcious Eyes palette! I think it has the silkiest texture and finest shimmer out of all Japanese palettes that I have tried. The shadows apply like a dream, namely super smooth. Also, 100% no powder fall-outs! So, texture-wise I do think it's even better than all my Lunasol palettes.

I bought some hair ties from Ena from Shanghainese Dumpling, and she gave me this really adorable flower ring as a gift. Isn't it just adorable? She has really cute and romantic accessories in her blog shop! Go visit her blog, if you like this style!

This palette is gorgeous for everyday wear, since the colors are very soft and on the neutral side. The peachy shade in the middle is so beautiful - makes the eyes glow! I'll post swatches and more details about Jewelcious Eyes ~ 04 in the following post!

This looks more like "Ouch, I'm having toothache!", haha... Sorry guys, I'm not a pro at modeling! ;p

The Maquillage Face Creator 3D ~ 66 (my second item I got from Mihokoshop) looks soooo natural. I love the soft shades and the extremely fine texture and shimmer, which gives me a really soft glow on my cheeks. I used the two sided brush that is included, and it works pretty nice!

I knew I had to get this blush ever since I saw it on ♥ FUZKITTIE ♥. Now, I wonder, why I didn't get it earlier? Another product I'm in love with now!

A close up of the eye. Again, you have to believe me that the colors look much more vibrant in real life.

And also a closer look at the flower ring. I think this is the cutest ring I have so far. Thank you, Ena! I love it!

FOTD : Sweet Pink Valentine

It's going to be Valentine's Day in about three weeks, ladies! I heard that this year's Valentine Day overlap with Lunar New Year! Hehe, what a coincidence! ;)

So, I did a Sweet Pink Valentine look today! A bit early, but anyways, haha... Actually, a really quick and easy one! Oh, but please don't pay attention to my hair! The length it has reached by now is just awful! Honestly, I'm clueless about how to style! :/

Starting with the steps for this look!

Step 1
- applied soft pink from the Dior palette allover the upper lid and in the inner corner

Step 2
- tightlined and lined upper lid with the brown Maquillage Dramatical Gel Liner
- apply it lightly along your lower lashline about 1/3 inwards

Step 3
- applied the darkest brown color from the Dior palette on top of the liner along the lashline
- added a bit more on the outer corner and along the lower lashline 1/3 inwards (to blend out the harshness of the line you draw with the gel liner)
- curled the lashes and applied one layer of Shiseido Lasting Lift mascara and a second coat with Diorshow Black Out Waterproof

Actually that was meant to be the finished eye, but I felt it didn't look pink enough, so I added a more vibrant pink eyeshadow from MAC

Step 4

- dabbed on MAC Da Bling!onto the upper lid beginning from the inner corner and blended into the brown color

That's it! A soft pink look that is perfect for a date, when you wanna look young, fresh and cute, hehe...

But why looking so fierce here, Jess? :p
Oh, have I ever mentioned that for some reason I feel that Rouge Volupté seems to plump up my lips? I love love love it!

I tried to look kawaii, haha...

Pink tends to make puffy eyelids look even puffier. To avoid this, I made sure to add a deeper color (I used a brown shade, since I think brown goes beautifully with pink) along the upper lashline and on the outer corner to add depth to the flat eyes.

Apply the pink blush right on the apples, to create a cute flush! I blended it a bit upwards along the cheekbones, since I have a chubby face.

I unintentionally reversed this photo , and I thought it looked nice, so I kept it like this, hehe... I hope you liked my quick and simple Sweet Pink Valentine look! Let's make everyday a Valentine's day! ♥

FOTD : Elegant Lady

I told you that I was super excited to put on makeup with the Yves Saint Laurent Eye Shadow Duo in 1 Heavenly Beige/Astral Brown, didn't I? As expected, the consistency of this palette is gorgeous! It applies super smooth, blends easily and there is a good color payoff.

I especially appreciate the fine shimmer, which makes the eyes gleam in a very natural way. Due to its' super fine shimmer, it is very suitable for puffy eyelids like mine, since it doesn't enhance the puffiness (we all know that chunky glitter makes puffy eyelids look terrible, right?)!

So, here is the first look I did with it!

Presenting an Elegant Lady Style today! Would I convince as a tough-minded business woman? Haha... probably not.

The eye makeup is again really fast and easy to do. I applied the soft white color allover the upper lid and the inner corner. Then, I tightlined the upper lid with a black liner and blended the brown shade along the lashline upwards, and added a bit more color on the outer corner to give more depth and make the eyes look bigger.

Next, I lined my eyes along the lower lashline and blended out the harshness with the brown eyeshadow. Finally, I curled the lashes and applied mascara. Et voilà!

Close up of the eye. My lashes don't behave today, argh!

I highly recommend this palette to anyone, who can't wear warm toned browns. The brown shade in Yves Saint Laurent Eyeshadow Duo ~ 1 Heavenly Beige/Astral Brown flatters cool skintones prettily. Usually, I tend to stay away from brown eyeshadows, since they have always made my eyes look tired. But I'm glad this one doesn't so. Seems like I have found a favorite brown !

Finished the look with peachy cheeks and lips. The blush might be a bit too strong, but I feel it goes well with this look somehow. By the way, I noticed I used mainly French brands today... I hope, you liked this look! ;)

FOTD : Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color 01 and 09 + First haul of 2010

Today, I had some time left to put on makeup before leaving the house for Uni. So I did a really quick and easy look using Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color N in 01 diamond snow and 09 midnight shine.

I dabbed on 01 diamond snow onto the whole lid to brighten up, and applied 09 midnight shine from the lashline a bit upwards and added a bit more on the outer corner to give my eyes more depth.

Next, I tightlined with a black eyeliner and lined the lower lashline about 1/3 inwards, since I think it looks more natural on me, when I don't line all way in. Then, I lined my waterline with a soft ivory eyeliner to make my eyes look brighter.

At last, I curled my lashes and applied one coat of Shiseido Lasting Lift mascara and one coat of Dior Diorshow Black Out Waterproof. And that's it!

Oh, I just remembered I have already posted a look using exactly these two Jelly Eye Colors earlier some time in September, when I was on vacation at my parents'. You can see the earlier look here! There is a bit of difference, no? If not, sorry for being bored by me, hehe... I think this time, I achieved a bit darker and smokier look, which is more winter appropriate. What do you think?

Sorry for the fierce expression! This is the proof that I look scary, when I don't smile, haha...! Since I have a really bad hair day, I thought, I looked better with the hair put into a ponytail.

Again, I have to note that it much darker and much much more sparkly in real life than in the photos. I haven't used 09 midnight shine for quite a long time, but now I've fallen in love with it again, hehe... such a beautiful sparkly deep blue! Well, actually I love all my Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Colors!

Kept the cheeks and lips subtle in bright pink shades, to appear fresh and young, hehe...

Have I told you that I have been a good girl for about 3 weeks, for I haven't spent on anything beauty related since Christmas? Aren't you proud of me? Haha... ok, now onto my first haul of 2010!

SISLEY Express Flower Gel ~ hydrating, toning and firming mask

I got this mask due to a sample that I got some time ago, which I really loved it, since it did really deeply hydrate my skin. Everything about this mask is pure love, except of the heavy price tag. :/ I will do a proper review on this product later on. I haven't forgotten that I still owe you tons of product reviews - so sorry for procrastinating! ;(

DIOR Duo Magique Duo-Phase Eye Makeup Remover

Since I got the items yesterday, I have already tried this out, and it's really good. Easily removes any traces of eye makeup - even my super stubborn Shiseido mascara, without leaving neither an oily residue, nor a dry feeling behind.

CLINIQUE Repairwear Intensive Lip Treatment

I believe, I have mentioned this product not only once, but over and over again, haven't I? Haha, of course I have, since it is my holy grail lip treatment product, which I'm restocking. Read the review here! I hope the ingredient remained the same, since the packaging obviously has changed a bit.

CHANEL Le Vernis ~ 505 Partiulière (LE from Chanel Spring 2010 Collection)

I've been wanting this nail polish ever since I saw the promo picture of it, and now I finally have it! Can't wait to paint my nails with it next week!

YVES SAINT LAURENT Eye Shadow Duo ~ 1 Heavenly Beige / Astral Brown

This is my first eyeshadow palette of YSL. The texture of the shadows in this palette is amazingly smooth and velvety. The shimmer is super fine and sparkly. This palette features a soft white and a rich golden brown with golden shimmer to it.

A close up photo, that shows the fine shimmer pretty nicely. This palette features a soft white and a rich brown with golden shimmer. It is certainly a palette for an everyday neutral to-go look, but I can imagine to create a darker night time look with it as well.

Gotta take a relaxing shower now and pamper my hair and my dry winter stressed skin! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Oh, and I have added some items to my blog sale! Visit my blog sale here! Thank you!
