MAX FACTOR Lash Lift Waterproof Mascara

| r e v i e w |

Usually, I don't pay much attention to drugstore mascaras, since I'm a confessed high-end cosmetics consumer (yes, I admit, it's one of my bad habits...). But, don't get me wrong, I don't say that drugstore cosmetics are bad, it's just my personal favor.

But today, my sister somehow convinced me to come with her to search for a good drugstore mascara. You know, I was skeptic. I wanted to do her a favor and thought "okay, then let's give it a try!". So, we went for the MaxFactor Lash Lift Waterproof Mascara this time.

I chose the waterproof version, since I found out that non-waterproof mascaras always tend to weigh my lashes down, instead of holding the curl.

Thank you, Jen (from A Beautyful Sentiment) for this helpful tip!

THE FACTS
  • its' classical wand is neither too big, nor too small, hence catches the lashes nicely
  • does volumize naturally and lengthens a bit
  • doesn't smudge
  • held my curl the whole evening (I had it on for about 6 hours today)
  • easily removable with an eye makeup remover for waterproof makeup.
THE VERDICT
  • good price/performance ratio
  • does what it claims
Yay, definitely a recommendable drugstore mascara! I like it! It seems, it's finally time to say goodbye to the "quality has its' price" slogan.
At this point, thanks to my sister for convincing me, hehe...

My next drugstore mascara to check out is going to be the MaxFactor False Lash Effect Mascara.

Do you have a favorite drugstore mascara? I'm really curious about yours now! Do share with me, okay?

i like cover girl's lash blast, in waterproof. i'm like you, if a mascara isn't waterproof, my lashes will go stick straight as soon as the mascara goes on! :(

Hi Eri!
Thanks a lot for sharing! Sadly, Cover Girl isn't available here in Austria. ;(

Really sucks, that so many brands aren't sold here.

HI Jess! thanks for commenting and stoppiing by my blog :D I have tried to a Max factor mascara before, the 2000 calorie one and it didnt have much effect on me but Im very glad it works well on you!!

In reply to your question, since it's a lustre lipstick, it can be quite sheer. I think my lips is quite pigmented too, and I used about 2 swipes each time and it works. Or you can use a lip primer before if you like :) I agree, It is a really pretty colour !

Jess thanks so much for mentioning me in your blog post, you're too sweet!

I forgot which one I used to use in college, it was by Maybelline, and the comb is smaller than most mascaras, making it very easy to use...

I only use drugstore brand mascaras unless I get name brand mascaras in a collection or bonus. I think they all work the same! So I save some $$ and opt for better eye shadows and foundation bases.

Thank you all for your comments, ladies! ;)

Nic Nic: Oh, thank you for the tip! I'll stay away from the 2000 calorie one!

Jen: You are welcome! ;)

Fuzkittie: I think, I know, which one you mean... is it the Maybelline Great Lash mascara? Its' tube is pink and green very small and has a mini wand.

GirlyPosh: Yeah, that's right! Let's see, if I'm able to resist buying high-end mascaras again, hehe...

Have a nice day altogether!

I really burn through the waterproof mascaras, especially on holidays and business trips to hot climates. I'm really tempted to give both Max Factor and Cover Girl Lash Blast a go!

Waterproof mascaras seem to dry up rapidly in the tube, and it can get expensive!

I'll compare both against Diorshow and Lancome L'Extreme WP.

Thank you!

i've actually tried diorshow and mufe smokey lash, and i really like max factor 2000 calorie mascara above all of them! pair it up with shiseido mascara base and it's love!

thanks for following!

Hi Jess! Thank you so much. I'm glad you like the banner I made for Fei. Simplicity was exactly what I was going for! I wanted something simple and elegant for her banner and "lipstick kiss on the napkin" was perfect. Plus it went well with her blog name "jesuisfei" like as if she were in a French cafe. lol. And it was simple enough so that she can put her own twist to the banner to make it her own and it worked out perfectly.

I love your blog btw! My favorite drugstore mascara would be Maybelline's Unstoppable (lengthening) and Full N' Soft (volume, lenghtens, and doesn't make your lashes feel stiff). I've tried lancome's mascara before but they were just to heavy for my lashes and didn't last as long as Maybelline's. I actually think drugstore mascara are just as good as department store brand or even better plus they're not heavy on the pocket.

okay, enough of my blabbering. lol ciao!

Jamilla: Looking forward to read your comparison.

Jen: Yes, the SHISEIDO Mascara Base is one of my hh products!

M: So do I!

Terri: I think you are really creative! I'm so envious! :P Unlike you, I feel that I need mascaras that make them kinda stiff, otherwise they droop down immediately. :(

Thank you ladies for commenting actively and for your great tips!

My favorite drug store mascara has to be Last Blast or Maybelline XXL curl power mascara. I love the fact that it has a primer with the mascara. Usually, i would venture off to different brands when I finish up a tube!

I totally am a brand snob too...I think with a good mascara base and eyelash curler, almost any mascara can do wonders. Might as well splurge on the base and curler right? ;D

I love L'oreal Voluminous - my HG =]

Hi Jess: I did my comparison of Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara, against Dior Iconic Mascara, and it came out very well!!

I just realised we don't have CG in the UK, and I missed my chance to buy some when I was in Cali last month. Darn!

Hi, i have a question. Here in the UK Max Factors False Lash effect mascara is being advertised on tv and i noticed that along the bottom it said that this same mascara was launched in the US as the Lash Blast Mascara. I thought Lash Blast was by cover girl?? Unless Max Factor also do 1 called Lash Blast?? Im a little confused, i wanted to buy both which would be pointless if they are the same thing. please help.

Hi Sophie!
The Lash Blast is in deed by Covergirl.

A lot of girls use the Covergirl Lash Blast, and I've also seen several reviews and pictures of it.

So, what I've seen is that the MAX FACTOR False Lash Effect Mascara is identical with the Lash Blast apart of the packaging. Both mascaras come in a belled tube, but the MAX FACTOR is black, whereas the Covergirl orange.

Hope, I helped you! ;)

Thanks Jess, very helpfull. I have also since found out that Proctor and Gamble own both Max Factor and Cover Girl so they are part of the same brand. The Lash Blast and MF's False Lash Effect Mascara ARE the same product marketed under different names!!!
